TIPS FOR USING BISON SPORTS
To pick from a menu of Bucknell avatars:
To change your avatar to something else of your own choosing:
If you don't select an individual avatar, the board defaults you to the Bucknell logo with the head-on Bison.
Screen names default to all lower-case after you register, however you can go back and change letters to uppercase by going to Edit Profile and then Personal.
There are many other account settings you can adjust from your Profile page — for example, Privacy, Notifications and, under Settings, your preferences for how you view the board. It's a good idea to go through each tab and make your choices. Note, you can remove the male/female indicator from under your avatar by saying no to "gender visibility" on the Privacy tab.
When writing a post, there are two tabs at the bottom: "Preview" and "BBCode." The Preview tab is for writing in a normal "what you see is what you get fashion." The BBCode tab lets the more ambitious go under the hood and use code. If you go back to edit a post, you may find it defaults you to the BBCode tab...just click on the Preview tab to do your edits in the typical way.
When replying to a post, if you want to access the full menu of editing buttons and special features, hit the "Reply" button on the right side of the page instead of "Post Quick Reply."
When quoting a post, be sure to put your cursor at the bottom of the composition window and OUTSIDE the thin orange line. When you're quoting a post that contained tweets or a video, and you're in the Preview tab, that space may not be as obvious.
To figure out what an editing button does, hover your mouse over it and a little box will pop up to tell you.
Want to use official Bucknell orange to accentuate something in a post? The "Hex" code is E87722. Bucknell blue is 003865 -- and is already the default color for writing posts. That's not a requirement, of course -- placing them here for easy reference after tracking them down to build the site.
To block a member, click on their screen name (not their profile photo). Next, on their profile page, click the gear icon, then "Block Member." You'll see a menu that lets you tailor your blocking, including "hide this member's posts." You can unblock them later (after a Bison win streak has everyone chummy again).
Embedded hyperlinks: The board is configured so embedded links [ like this one ] are underlined.
Remember that we now have separate boards for separate sports, so please, for two examples, post women's basketball content in that area and men's golf news in "Other Bucknell Sports."
Feel free to post how-to questions to this thread and let's help each other figure things out.
